The GW Medical Faculty Associates Department of Emergency Medicine is excited to offer an Accelerated EMT Program (EMT2026-006) — Summer Daytime cohort — running from July 6 – August 14, 2026 This course includes an optional course extension to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
This 6-week summer daytime intensive course is designed for individuals seeking to enter the field of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or begin a rewarding career in healthcare, public safety, or emergency response. Whether your goal is to work with a fire department, EMS agency, or hospital, this course will provide the essential knowledge and hands-on experience to prepare you for real-world patient care.

- Eligibility to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam upon successful completion.
- Optional bridge course to Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), following successful completion of the course.

Program Dates: July 6 – August 14, 2026
Class Days & Times: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
NREMT Psychomotor Testing Dates: August 13 & 14, 2026
Tuition and Fees
Total Tuition: $4,250
Deposit: $1,000 (required to reserve a seat or wait-list spot)
- Refund policy: Refund deadline is two weeks prior to the start date. For this class, the deposit becomes non-refundable after June 22, 2026 (if seated in the class).
- Refundable at any time if on the wait list and not seated.
Additional Costs (not included in tuition):
- NREMT Cognitive Exam Fee – $104
- Background check, drug screen, and immunization tracking – $150

- Vital signs equipment (including stethoscope)
- Learning management system with practice exams, supplemental materials, and interactive learning tools
- American Heart Association BLS CPR Certification
- NREMT Psychomotor (skills) testing
Admission Requirements
Students must:
- Provide documentation of up-to-date vaccinations (including Covid-19), physical exam, background check, and drug screen (required prior to clinical rotations).
- Meet the attendance and physical performance standards outlined in the Student Handbook.
- Have reliable internet access and a personal computing device capable of completing assignments, quizzes, and online exams.
- Be able to attend the first day of the course.
Certification
