Interested in becoming an Emergency Medical Technician?

The GW Medical Faculty Associates Department of Emergency Medicine is excited to announce an additional Accelerated EMT Program offering starting January 2026. This program is an accelerated 14-week program for those interested in entering the exciting world of EMS.  The class is also perfect for people interested in a career in healthcare, or in working for a fire department, EMS agency, or hospital.

The class schedule is designed to meet the demands of a working professional or student, with class hours in the evenings and occasional weekend labs. This class meets every Monday and Wednesday beginning 1/5/2026. The Saturday classes are on the following days: 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/14, 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, 3/21, 4/4, with skills testing on 4/10 (Fri) and 4/11.  Please note, you are REQUIRED to be present on the first day of class, 1/5/2026, otherwise you will not be able to take the course.

Taught by practicing GWDEMTC clinicians and educators.  Students will complete the didactic and practical portions of the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) program with both lectures and hands-on simulations. Students will have the opportunity to apply what they've learned through clinical shifts within affiliated emergency medical institutions.

After successfully completing the course, students will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) computer-based certification examination. For more information on requirements for the National Registry, please visit the NREMT website.

Tuition:  The total cost of the course is $3,250.00.  A $1,000 deposit is required to register for the class (or waitlist) and is non-refundable after December 22, 2025 (if seated in the class). Waitlist deposits refundable at any time.
