The GW Medical Faculty Associates Department of Emergency Medicine is excited to offer an Accelerated EMT Program beginning January 27, 2026 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, with several Sunday labs.
This 14-week intensive course is designed for individuals seeking to enter the field of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or begin a rewarding career in healthcare, public safety, or emergency response. Whether your goal is to work with a fire department, EMS agency, or hospital, this course will provide the essential knowledge and hands-on experience to prepare you for real-world patient care.

- Accelerated 14-week format — ideal for working professionals and students.
- Evening and weekend schedule to accommodate busy lifestyles (Tuesday and Thursday evening with occasional Saturday/Sundays)
- Taught by practicing GW Department of Emergency Medicine clinicians and educators.
- Hands-on labs and high-fidelity simulations to develop practical skills.
- Clinical rotations with affiliated emergency medical institutions.
- Eligibility to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam upon successful completion.

Program Dates: January 27 – May 10, 2026
Class Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM and various Saturday/Sunday 8:30 AM–5:30 PM
Weekend Labs: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM on the following dates:
Sundays: 2/1, 2/8, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/5, 4/19, 5/3, 5/10

NREMT Psychomotor Testing Dates: May 9th (Sat) & 10th (Sun), 2026
Tuition and Fees
Total Tuition: $3,750
Deposit: $1,000 (required to reserve a seat or wait list spot)
- Non-refundable after January 13th, 2026 (if seated in the class)
- Refundable at any time if on the wait list and not seated
Additional Costs (not included in tuition):
- NREMT Cognitive Exam Fee – $104
- Background check, drug screen, and immunization tracking – $150
Tuition Includes
- All course materials (textbook, eBook, and audiobook)
- Vital signs equipment (including stethoscope)
- Learning management system with practice exams, supplemental materials, and interactive learning tools
- American Heart Association BLS CPR Certification
- NREMT Psychomotor (skills) testing
Admission Requirements
Students must:
- Provide documentation of up-to-date vaccinations (including Covid-19), physical exam, background check, and drug screen (required prior to clinical rotations).
- Meet the attendance and physical performance standards outlined in the Student Handbook.
- Have reliable internet access and a personal computing device capable of completing assignments, quizzes, and online exams.
- Be able to attend the first day of the course.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, graduates are eligible to take the National Registry EMT Certification Exam.
